Han Embroider

Han embroidery is a traditional embroidery art popular in Wuhan, Jingzhou and Honghu in Hubei Province, with a history of over 2,000 years. In 2008 it was listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Project. Han embroidery is known for its bold stitching, vivid colours and daring designs. It emphasises layered colour transitions and a three-dimensional effect, with shades progressing from light to dark or dark to light. The main technique used is "flat gold-thread embroidery," which skillfully incorporates gold and silver threads for outlining, creating a visually stunning, resplendent effect.
